Intake (Application Status)
Waiting List/Application Status
Effective July 1, 2023, the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program Waiting List is closed to all except eligible veterans, veterans' widows, and individuals aged 70 or older. However, if you are interested in applying for other Housing Waiting List Programs, you can apply here. All applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Incomplete applications will delay processing. Please complete all sections and sign and date where required. If you need assistance, refer to the green sheet in your application packet.
RETURN TO WAIT LIST/WITHDRAWALS
-
Returned to the Waiting List: If you receive notice that you have been returned to the waiting list, your original application date will be retained. Appeals are not permitted once you have been returned to the waiting list.
-
Withdrawn: If you receive notice that you have been withdrawn, you have 10 calendar days to submit a written appeal. Informal hearings do not guarantee a reversal of the decision.
-
Conditional Denial: If you receive a conditional denial letter, you have additional time to provide all missing required documents/information by the due date specified. Failure to provide all required information will result in your application being withdrawn.
IF YOU WERE ISSUED A VOUCHER
Your voucher will expire 180 days after issuance. If it expires, you will be withdrawn from the waitlist. No extensions will be granted beyond 180 days. To transfer out of Riverside County through portability, submit your request in writing at least 30 days before your voucher's expiration date.
