Waiting List Application Process

Please note: The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV/Section 8) waiting list remains closed. Currently, applications are only being accepted for a limited number of Project-Based Voucher (PBV) communities. Available PBV communities will be displayed in the Rent Café portal and are subject to change.

All waiting-list applications must now be submitted online through the Housing Authority’s Rent Café portal.

To apply:

1. Select the Apply Through Rent Café button below.
2. Create a Rent Café account or sign in to your existing account.
3. Review the available waiting lists and select the waiting list for which you would like to apply.
4. Complete and submit the application. Please ensure that all information is accurate and complete.

Creating a Rent Café account does not automatically place you on a waiting list. You must complete and submit an application for an available waiting list. After submitting your application, please retain your confirmation for your records.

If you do not have internet access or need assistance completing the online application, please visit your local library or another County office offering public computer access. Computer Resource Listing

The Housing Authority of the County of Riverside’s Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waiting list will close on September 1, 2025, for all new applicants.

• This closure only applies to new registrations submitted on or after September 1, 2025.

• If you are already registered on the Section 8 waiting list, this does not affect you. You may continue to update your existing registration.

• The Project-Based Voucher (PBV) and Moderate Rehabilitation (Mod Rehab) waiting lists will remain open.

Note: You must have a valid Social Security Number to complete the online registration forms above.

If you do not have a Social Security Number, you may complete the registration form  (The waiting list is currently closed due to a system conversion. Updates will be posted as they become available.). (If you do have a SSN, you must use one of the two links above or your registration will not be added.)

Keep Your Information Updated

It is the registrant’s responsibility to keep waiting list information current at all times. Your registration may be cancelled if:

• You fail to report a new address.

• You do not respond to mailings.

• Mail is returned as undeliverable.
